Aceh – Indonesia, Chairman of the Banda Aceh City Baitul Mal, Dr Tgk M Yusuf Al Qardhawy MH, emphasized that the 2026 Business Capital Assistance Program is part of Baitul Mal’s efforts to empower mustahik by strengthening productive economic activities.
βWe present this program not merely to hand out aid, but to ensure that the distributed zakat can serve as capital for mustahik to grow their businesses and increase their family income,β said Dr Tgk M Yusuf on Thursday, (8/10/2026).
According to him, the program provides a quota for 600 beneficiaries (mustahik) who meet the criteria and pass the selection and verification process.
βWe want this assistance to be truly targeted. Therefore, every prospective recipient must fulfill the administrative requirements and established mustahik criteria. Following the administrative phase, there is a verification process and survey before the assistance is approved,β he stated.
He explained that priority for the aid is given to impoverished families registered in DTSEN deciles 1 through 4, those with family dependents, and residents who have lived in Banda Aceh City for at least five years.
βWe prioritize this assistance for residents in need who already operate or are starting a business. The hope is that the provided capital will be used productively, rather than for consumptive needs,β he added.
The Chairman of Baitul Mal also reminded the public to ensure all necessary documents are complete before submitting proposals.
βWe do not want people who already run a business and meet the criteria to fail simply because their administrative documents are incomplete. Therefore, we urge prospective recipients to read all terms thoroughly and complete the required paperwork,β he urged.
He further stressed that the assistance is limited to one person per household and prioritizes those who have not received aid from either the Banda Aceh City Baitul Mal or the Aceh Baitul Mal during the 2025β2026 period.
βThe most important aspects are transparency and targeted delivery. We want the zakat funds entrusted to Baitul Mal by the community to truly return to those entitled to them and make an impact on improving welfare,β he asserted.
He noted that the success of the program is measured not only by the amount of aid distributed, but also by the mustahik’s capacity to expand their business after receiving capital.
βWe hope beneficiaries can advance, grow their businesses, boost their income, and eventually transition from aid recipients to individuals capable of helping others,β he concluded. (rus)
