KUTACANE – Floods submerged six villages across four sub-districts in Southeast Aceh Regency on Saturday (9/26/2026). The flooding occurred following moderate to heavy rainfall that battered the region from the early hours of the morning through the forenoon.

According to a report from the Southeast Aceh BPBD Operations Control Center (Pusdalops), the affected areas include Lawe Sumur, Bambel, Bukit Tusam, and Ketambe sub-districts.

Increased discharge from the Lawe Kisam and Lawe Kinga rivers breached the Lawe Kisam river embankment in Nasi Hamlet, Terutung Megara Lawe Pasaran Village, Lawe Sumur Sub-district.

The overflowing rivers impacted residential areas and agricultural land. Approximately 40 hectares of rice fields in Terutung Megara Lawe Pasaran Village and about 10 hectares in Kisam Gabungan Village were submerged.

In addition to the flooding, a landslide struck the Kutacane-Blangkejeren national highway, specifically in Kati Maju Village, Ketambe Sub-district.

The landslide caused a PLN utility pole to collapse, resulting in power outages across several areas.

The BPBD recorded 49 families, totaling 186 individuals, affected by the disaster. No casualties or displacements were reported.

The BPBD Quick Response Team has conducted assessments and data collection at the affected sites. Officials also deployed an excavator to repair the breached Lawe Kisam embankment and dredge the river to mitigate further overflow risks.
