Aceh – Indonesia, Acting Regional Secretary of Aceh, Taufik, has urged the acceleration of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction (rehab-recon) following hydrometeorological disasters in Aceh, anticipating potential heavy rainfall through the end of the year.

Taufik made the statement during a discussion on post-hydrometeorological disaster rehab-recon management at the Ruang Potensi Daerah on Wednesday (9/30/2026).

The discussion was attended by the Deputy for Disaster Management and Social Conflict Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK), Lilik Kurniawan, along with regency/city government officials, Aceh Regional Work Units (SKPA), and disaster management experts.

Taufik emphasized that acceleration is essential so that the community recovery process can be completed promptly. He also requested input and evaluation from the central government to strengthen post-disaster response efforts.

“We hope this rehab-recon process can continue to be driven forward,” Taufik said.

Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs to the Regional Secretary of Aceh, T. Robby Irza, reported several lingering issues that require attention, ranging from completing land acquisition for permanent housing (huntap) and optimizing regency/city command posts to normalizing rivers, improving flood control infrastructure, and strengthening disaster SOPs.

The Aceh Provincial Government is also pushing to strengthen data collection and reporting for rehab-recon programs executed by ministries and agencies. Data synchronization is considered vital to prevent overlapping programs in the field.

Deputy of Kemenko PMK Lilik Kurniawan stated that the central government has established a steering committee and an expert panel to support the acceleration of rehab-recon efforts in Aceh.

“We must move together to rebuild Aceh and its communities, while remaining vigilant against the potential for future disasters,” Lilik said.
