Aceh – Indonesia, Banda Aceh (Waspada Aceh) – The Library Center of Universitas Bina Bangsa Getsempena (UBBG) held a training session on writing innovative and scientific works in the UBBG Library literacy room on Wednesday (30/09/2026).

The training carried the theme “Timely Graduation Solutions: Overcoming Methodological Obstacles in Thesis Writing.” The event was attended by 76 participants, consisting of students from UBBG and UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh.

In her opening remarks, event chairperson Syifa Andina stated that the activity was part of the UBBG Library’s 2026 work program.

“It is certainly crucial for us to understand how a work is systematically designed—starting from identifying problems, choosing research approaches, determining data collection methods, analyzing data, to overcoming methodological obstacles in preparing theses and innovative works,” she noted.

Head of the UBBG Library, Ashabul Kahfi, also mentioned in his address that these literacy activities are conducted regularly. This success is owed to the support of UBBG leadership, allowing the event to run smoothly.

The main objective of this event was to enhance participants’ abilities to produce high-quality, systematic, creative, and academic-standard innovative and scientific works at UBBG. More importantly, it aimed to sharpen participants’ skills in selecting topics, formulating problem statements, and outlining writing objectives and methodologies.

“We encourage participants to generate innovative works that can be applied and benefit both institutions and society. This training will continue through a WhatsApp group and subsequent classes to review the works prepared by each participant at a later time,” he added.

The first speaker, Zahraini, who also serves as Head of the Career Development and Innovation Division at UBBG, delivered material on writing creative, innovative, and competitive works through quality writing. The basic concept of an innovative work involves adapting an existing idea without changing its core meaning while adding proven functions, contexts, methods, or technologies. Innovative works stem from problems, ideas, novelty, prototypes, testing, and refinement.

“The resulting innovative works can be registered for intellectual property rights or patents through the Directorate General of Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia,” she explained.

Meanwhile, the second speaker, Rita Novita, who is Vice Rector I for Academic and Innovation Affairs at UBBG, explained the scientific writing guidelines at UBBG. Students need to understand UBBG’s writing standards, which can be downloaded and read in digital format from their respective Opensimka accounts provided by the campus, in line with the latest UBBG Rector’s Decree regarding revised graduation requirements and cum laude criteria for undergraduate and master’s programs.

She emphasized that students must first understand that a scientific paper is an academic work that should be written using proper language structures, presenting scientifically sourced data rather than mere opinions, and adhering to citations and formats specified in the UBBG guidelines. This approach leads to innovative works and significantly increases the chances of graduating on time and reaching targeted goals. (*)
