Aceh – Indonesia, Vice Mayor of Sabang, Suradji Junus, directly monitored the activation of the Digital Population Identity (IKD) at the Paya Seunara Keuchik Office, Sukamakmue District, on Monday (10/5/2026).
The inspection was conducted to ensure that digital-based population administration services are easily accessible and beneficial to the public. Suradji was accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Sabang City, the Head of the Population and Civil Registration Agency, and the Head of Sukamakmue District.
Suradji stated that IKD activation is crucial alongside the growth of digital-based government services. He emphasized that the government must bring services directly to the people so residents do not always have to visit government offices.
“Today, we are monitoring the activation of the Digital Population Identity. This is essential for the community so they can also become digitally literate,” Suradji said.
He added that proactive outreach, such as holding IKD activations at the village level, is more practical and convenient for residents.
“Government support is substantial. One way is by reaching out to citizens directly like this, so they don’t need to come to the office,” he noted.
Suradji mentioned that IKD will later be linked to various public service needs, including healthcare coverage (BPJS), banking, and other state documents.
“This is truly necessary because it concerns a single identity. IKD will also impact usage for BPJS, banking relations, and other state documents,” he explained.
During implementation, several technical obstacles were still encountered, mainly mobile phone devices and cameras incompatible with the IKD application. However, these issues did not dampen the public’s enthusiasm to activate their digital IDs.
Suradji noted that the majority of employees within the Sabang City Government have already set up their IKD. He encouraged the public to complete the activation so that the adoption of digital identity becomes more widespread.
“Alhamdulillah, today we see considerable enthusiasm. This is ultimately for the future benefit of the community,” he said.
He hopes IKD will make it increasingly easier for citizens to access various administrative services and other needs without going through complicated processes.
