Aceh – Indonesia, Celebrations for the Indonesian National Team following their 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup victory are far from over. The Garuda squad received more good news as their FIFA world ranking climbed following their final victory over Thailand.

In the live FIFA World Ranking update on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Indonesia reached 116th place globally with a total of 1,166.50 points. This position marks a two-spot jump from their previous ranking.

Indonesia’s ranking boost came after defeating Thailand in the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup final at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, on Monday, October 5, 2026.

The match was tightly contested, stretching into extra time with a 2-2 draw. Indonesia eventually secured the championship title with a 4-2 win in the penalty shootout.

This result earned Indonesia an additional 3.35 points in the official FIFA ranking calculations.

Indonesia’s mid-table standing in the FIFA rankings remains fiercely competitive. The Garuda squad trails Tanzania, located just one spot above them, by a mere 0.32 points.

Indonesia is just 0.32 points behind Tanzania, while Kazakhstan, sitting directly below Garuda, trails by 0.24 points.

Point Boost from the FIFA ASEAN Cup

Indonesia’s rise was not solely driven by the final match against Thailand. The Garuda squad accumulated points incrementally throughout their 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup campaign.

Indonesia opened their journey with a victory over Singapore, followed by a draw against Malaysia. The Garuda then earned a dominant 9-2 victory over Bangladesh before capping off the tournament by defeating Thailand in the final.

Overall, the campaign also served as a major milestone for head coach John Herdman, with the trophy recognized as one of the standout achievements of his coaching career.

For Indonesia, reaching 116th in the world marks a significant milestone in Garuda’s ranking trajectory. However, the position remains subject to change as the current figures reflect live rankings.

Where Does Indonesia Stand in ASEAN?

Within the Southeast Asian region, Indonesia still trails a few nations with higher FIFA rankings.

Thailand ranks 93rd with 1,251.42 points, while Vietnam sits in 99th place with 1,231.29 points.

Nevertheless, Indonesia sits above several other ASEAN nations, including Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore.

Interestingly, Indonesia’s closest rivals in the FIFA rankings are currently outside ASEAN. Garuda sits at a razor-thin distance from Tanzania directly above them and Kazakhstan right below.

With point gaps down to decimal places, the upcoming international fixtures could once again shift the Indonesian National Team’s position in the FIFA rankings.
