Aceh – Indonesia, The Aceh Provincial Government, alongside the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK), is pushing to accelerate post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction (rehab-recon) following flash floods and landslides in Aceh.
This acceleration is deemed crucial as Aceh enters a period of potentially high rainfall toward the end of the year. This situation necessitates speeding up post-disaster recovery efforts while simultaneously enhancing preparedness for potential subsequent disasters.
The issue was addressed during the Discussion on Hydrometeorological Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Management in Aceh, held at the Regional Potential Room of the Aceh Governor’s Office on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Acting Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Aceh, Taufik, attended the event accompanied by the Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs to the Aceh Regional Secretary, T. Robby Irza.
The event was also attended by the Deputy for Disaster and Social Conflict Management Coordination at Kemenko PMK, Lilik Kurniawan; Assistant Deputy for PRB, Andre Notohamijoyo; disaster management experts; municipal and regency government officials; and related SKPA officials.
Taufik stated that the discussion was essential for synchronizing rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Aceh, as well as addressing several field reports that require immediate follow-up.
According to him, speeding up rehab-recon efforts must be prioritized given that Aceh is entering a period with potential for high rainfall until the end of the year.
“We hope this rehab-recon process can be continuously expedited, and we request input and evaluations from Kemenko PMK so that disaster management can improve and the community can recover quickly,” Taufik said.
Several Key Issues Remain in Focus
On that occasion, Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs, T. Robby Irza, reported several key issues that remain the primary focus of the post-disaster recovery process.
These issues include finalizing land for permanent housing (huntap), optimizing command posts in regencies and cities, river normalization, flood control infrastructure, and strengthening disaster SOPs across regional governments.
Robby also highlighted the importance of enhancing data collection and reporting for rehab-recon programs executed by line ministries and agencies.
He noted that data synchronization is vital so local governments have complete information regarding ongoing initiatives to prevent overlapping programs.
Additionally, Robby reported on the progress of Regional Transfer (TKD) funds, which are being continuously pushed for faster realization.
Central Government Forms Steering and Expert Teams
Meanwhile, Kemenko PMK Deputy Lilik Kurniawan stated that the central government has established steering and expert teams to support the acceleration of Aceh’s rehabilitation and reconstruction.
The teams are expected to provide strategic input to ensure the post-disaster rehab-recon process runs optimally and targets the right areas.
“We must work together to rebuild Aceh and its people, while remaining vigilant against future disaster risks,” Lilik said.
He also urged regency and municipal governments to ensure proper guidance and monitoring during the execution of rehab-recon projects.
According to Lilik, sensitive recovery issues must also be jointly monitored to ensure effective and targeted interventions.
During the discussion, the team of disaster experts presented various insights and recommendations to bolster strategic steps for post-disaster rehab-recon in Aceh.
