Aceh – Indonesia, JAKARTA – The commitment to oversee the establishment of the Proposed New Autonomous Region (CDOB) of Aceh Selatan Jaya (ASJA) was reaffirmed by the Deputy Regent of South Aceh, H. Baital Mukadis, SE, alongside the Speaker of the South Aceh Regional House of Representatives (DPRK), Hj. Rema Mishul Azwa, SE, Ak, ME.

This assertion was made by both officials after attending the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) and National Consolidation of FORKONAS PP DOB across Indonesia in Jakarta on Tuesday (29/9/2026).

The official ASJA delegation comprised the Deputy Regent of South Aceh, Baital Mukaddis, SE, the Chairman of ASJA, Drs. T. Zilmahram, MM, Psi, and the Speaker of the South Aceh DPRK, Rema Mishul Azwa, SE, Ak., ME.

Meanwhile, other ASJA representatives present included ASJA Advisor Abdussamad, SE, ASJA Jakarta Representative Abdul Fata, and South Aceh DPRK Members Dr. Alja Yusnadi, S.TP., M.Si, and Jasmar, SE.

The attendance of South Aceh’s executive and legislative leadership forms part of efforts to strengthen communication and coordination with the central government, other regions, and all stakeholders to safeguard ASJA’s aspirations.

Attended by hundreds of delegates from various prospective new autonomous regions across Indonesia, the National Leadership Meeting served as a platform for national consolidation. Beyond unifying perspectives and strengthening inter-regional networks, the forum also addressed the development of regional management policies, including RPP-PETADA and DESARTA.

Deputy Regent Baital emphasized that South Aceh’s presence in this national forum is an endeavor to ensure that the struggle for ASJA remains connected to national policy dynamics. However, he reminded that this effort cannot succeed if it relies solely on the local government and the DPRK.

“The fight for ASJA requires unity. The local government cannot work alone. Therefore, we hope for the support of all elements of South Aceh society to jointly oversee and advocate for this aspiration through channels compliant with statutory regulations,” Baital stated.

He also urged all parties to handle differing viewpoints maturely. “The most important thing is how we maintain communication, respect differences, and place the interests of the South Aceh community as our common foundation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the South Aceh DPRK, Hj. Rema Mishul Azwa, added that synergy between the executive and legislative branches is key to ensuring that the advocacy for ASJA remains focused and aligned with established mechanisms.

“The FORKONAS PP DOB National Leadership Meeting also opens opportunities for South Aceh to expand communication with other regions sharing similar aspirations. This exchange of experiences and information is part of the consolidation process in understanding the dynamics of regional management policies at the national level,” Rema said.

According to Rema, pushing for ASJA amid the moratorium and dynamic national regional autonomy policies requires patience, consistency, and collective effort to stay on a constitutional path.

Concluding his remarks, Deputy Regent Baital invited all elements—ranging from community leaders, religious scholars (ulama), youth, academics, entrepreneurs, civil society organizations, to grassroots communities—not to remain indifferent.

“Let us oversee this together. Do not allow this struggle to belong to a specific group only. ASJA is an aspiration that we must fight for together, with a spirit of unity, patience, and optimism, while continuing to respect all ongoing processes and applicable regulations,” he concluded.(*)
