Aceh – Indonesia, The Banda Aceh City Government continues to strengthen inflation control measures to maintain price stability and public purchasing power. According to a release by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Banda Aceh City, inflation in September 2026 was recorded at 0.25 percent month-to-month (mtm).

Cumulatively since the beginning of the year, Banda Aceh City’s inflation reached 1.75 percent year-to-date, while annual inflation stood at 4.69 percent year-on-year. During the same period, Banda Aceh’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) reached the level of 114.88.

Regional Secretary of Banda Aceh City, Jalaluddin, stated that this achievement is an important indicator for the local government in assessing economic developments while determining necessary intervention steps to maintain price stability.

โ€œControlling inflation is not just about keeping the inflation rate contained, but most importantly, ensuring that basic necessities are available at affordable prices so that public purchasing power remains protected,โ€ he said.

By expenditure group, the annual inflationary pressure in September 2026 mainly stemmed from the Food, Beverages, and Tobacco group with a contribution of 1.70 percent. Furthermore, the Food and Beverage Serving/Restaurant group contributed 1.21 percent, Transportation 0.88 percent, and the Personal Care and Other Services group 0.68 percent.

On the other hand, the Clothing and Footwear group made a negative contribution of 0.39 percent, helping to curb the annual inflation rate in Banda Aceh City.

The annual inflation trend in Banda Aceh over the past year showed varied dynamics. Inflation was recorded at 3.67 percent in September 2025, peaked at 6.70 percent in February 2026, subsequently declined to 3.43 percent in April 2026, and returned to 4.69 percent in September 2026.

Jalal added that throughout September 2026, the Banda Aceh City Government, through the Department of Food, Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries (DP2KP) as well as the Department of Cooperatives, SMEs, and Trade (DISKOPUKMDAG), continuously conducted affordable food movements and low-cost markets as part of efforts to control basic commodity prices.

According to the Regional Secretary, these dynamics serve as the foundation for the local government to continuously enhance monitoring of prices and the availability of strategic commodities.

Therefore, he added that through more responsive monitoring, cross-sector coordination, and data-based interventions, the Banda Aceh City Government is committed to maintaining price stability, protecting public purchasing power, and supporting sustainable economic growth in Banda Aceh City.
