Aceh – Indonesia, Damage to the Seunong Irrigation Area in Meurah Dua District, Pidie Jaya, has disrupted the water supply essential for the local community, particularly for agricultural activities. Residents have even been forced to collaborate independently to keep the irrigation water flowing.

This situation has drawn the attention of Aceh Vice Governor Fadhlullah, affectionately known as Dek Fadh, who personally inspected the site on Monday, October 5, 2026.

During the inspection, the Aceh Vice Governor was accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Pidie Jaya, the Assistant II of Pidie Jaya, and the Head of the Leadership Administration Bureau of the Aceh Regional Secretariat.

The field visit was conducted after local residents contacted Vice Governor Dek Fadh to voice their concerns regarding the unaddressed condition of the Seunong Irrigation Area.

In response to their aspirations, the Aceh Vice Governor visited the site directly to assess the damage firsthand and listen to the community’s needs.

At the location, residents explained that the damaged irrigation system had hindered their daily water supply. To maintain the water flow, they have been working together independently to ensure the irrigation system remains functional.

Addressing these concerns, Vice Governor Dek Fadh assured that the government would act swiftly so that the damage would no longer burden the public.

He stated that he had coordinated with the River Basin Territory Agency (BWS) to urge budget allocation for the immediate revitalization of the Seunong Irrigation Area.

“We have seen the conditions firsthand and heard the community’s input. I have coordinated with BWS to ensure the budget for repairs is allocated promptly,” Dek Fadh said in a press release from the Aceh Secretariat’s Bureau of Leadership Administration.

In addition to inspecting the Seunong Irrigation Area, the Aceh Vice Governor also checked the progress on Krueng Meureudu, where flood mitigation work using boulder revetments (batu gajah) is currently underway, funded by the government budget.

Dek Fadh emphasized that the Aceh Provincial Government will continue to monitor coordination with BWS to ensure the restoration of the Seunong Irrigation Area is realized soon.

These efforts are expected to restore the irrigation system’s functionality and guarantee adequate water supply for local residents, particularly for agricultural needs in Meurah Dua, Pidie Jaya.
