Aceh – Indonesia, The East Aceh District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) has arrested Ardiansyah, a convict in a corruption case involving the land asset certification of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) who had been a fugitive on the wanted list (DPO).
Ardiansyah was arrested at the Agam 2 coffee shop in the Binjai City area, North Sumatra, on October 7, 2026, at approximately 20:30 WIB. The arrest was made after the prosecution team received intelligence regarding the convict’s whereabouts.
Head of the Special Crimes Section (Kasi Pidsus) at the East Aceh Prosecutor’s Office, Akbar Pramadhana, stated that the arrest was the result of a joint effort with the intelligence unit of the Aceh High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati).
“The individual was arrested in connection with a corruption case involving the certification of land assets belonging to PT KAI in East Aceh,” Akbar said on Friday, October 9, 2026.
According to Akbar, the intelligence team from the Aceh High Prosecutor’s Office first obtained information regarding Ardiansyah’s whereabouts in Binjai City. This information was then followed up by deploying the East Aceh Special Crimes team to execute the arrest.
“Upon receiving the additional information, I immediately led the team from the East Aceh Special Crimes Section to move in, and we successfully secured the convict without resistance,” he stated.
The corruption case in the certification of PT KAI’s land assets caused state losses amounting to IDR 6.5 billion in 2019. The case involved alleged budget markups and misappropriation of funds during the execution of land certification for 301 plots of land in the East Aceh region.
Akbar explained that Ardiansyah had previously been sentenced to six years in prison following an appeal ruling by the Banda Aceh High Court. The verdict became legally binding (inkracht) on June 20, 2022.
However, when summoned to serve his sentence, Ardiansyah failed to comply and was subsequently declared a fugitive on the wanted list.
Following his arrest, Ardiansyah was brought to East Aceh and immediately committed to the Idi Penitentiary (Lapas) to serve his sentence in accordance with the court ruling.
“The convict has now been transferred to East Aceh and remanded to the Idi Penitentiary to serve his prison sentence,” Akbar said.
Akbar noted that Ardiansyah was the final convict to be detained in the case after hiding from law enforcement. Meanwhile, four other individuals involved in the PT KAI land asset certification corruption case had already been detained previously.
Ardiansyah’s arrest is part of the prosecution’s ongoing efforts to fully execute court rulings against convicts involved in the corruption case regarding the certification of 301 land plots belonging to PT KAI in East Aceh.***
