Aceh – Indonesia, Two female students in Trumon Tengah District, South Aceh Regency, died after being involved in a fatal crash on the Tapaktuan – Subulussalam National Highway on Friday afternoon (10/9/2026).
The tragic accident occurred around 12:15 PM WIB in Gampong Ie Jerneh, involving a Mitsubishi Xpander BK 1244 ABM and a Honda Scoopy BL 5988 TAA motorcycle.
The victims were identified as Mauliza (13), who was driving the motorcycle, and Rosi Kalita (13), who was riding as a passenger. Both were local residents and died at the scene due to severe injuries.
South Aceh Police Chief AKBP T. Ricki Fadlianshah, S.I.K., M.H., through Head of Traffic Unit AKP Aiyub, S.E., M.H., explained the sequence of events.
He stated that the Xpander car driven by Dusturil Maharaja (27) was traveling from the direction of Subulussalam toward Tapaktuan. Upon arriving at the location, the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer into the right lane.
“At the same time, a motorcycle ridden by the victims came from the opposite direction, making the collision unavoidable,” said AKP Aiyub.
As a result of the hard impact, both victims suffered lacerations to their heads and bone fractures. Officers arriving at the location immediately conducted a crime scene investigation (TKP) and evacuated both bodies to the nearest community health center (puskesmas).
Both vehicles sustained severe front-end damage, with material losses estimated at IDR 15 million.
“We are handling this traffic accident case. The driver and evidence have been secured at the South Aceh Police Traffic Unit for further investigation,” he concluded.
