Suka Makmue – Working through the weekend, the Nagan Raya Regency Government continues to accelerate post-disaster recovery efforts in the agricultural sector.
Through the Department of Food Crops, Horticulture, and Animal Husbandry (DTPHP), the government is socializing various agricultural programs and assistance that farmers in Beutong Ateuh District will receive in the near future.
This initiative forms part of the Nagan Raya Regency Government’s commitment to help residents restore disaster-affected agricultural land while maintaining regional food security.
Regent of Nagan Raya Dr. Teuku Raja Keumangan, S.H., M.H., through the Head of DTPHP Nagan Raya, Marzuki, S.E., stated that the administration is paying serious attention to the condition of rice fields in Beutong Ateuh damaged by the flood.
“Following the floods, we hope the agricultural sector in Beutong Ateuh District can recover soon. The Nagan Raya Regency Government will rehabilitate paddy fields categorized as slightly damaged due to the disaster,” Marzuki told this media outlet via a WhatsApp message on Saturday (26/9/2026).
The socialization took place at the Kuta Teungeut Village Hall and was attended by heads of farmer groups and local residents from Beutong Ateuh District.
On that occasion, the government also announced plans to distribute hand tractors and agricultural production supplies (saprodi) to farmer groups across the Beutong Ateuh region.
According to Marzuki, this assistance is expected to expedite land preparation so farmers can resume cultivation after their land was impacted by the disaster.
“Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for the government’s attention to the community, particularly in agriculture. With this aid, farmers are expected to cultivate their soil once again and revitalize their flood-damaged fields,” he said.
The hand tractor aid and paddy field rehabilitation program are funded by the State Budget (APBN) as part of efforts to support post-disaster agricultural recovery and ensure community food security.
Farmers Express Aspirations for Peugeut Blang
During the dialogue with officials, a farmer group representative conveyed several urgent needs to sustain agricultural activities in Beutong Ateuh District.
One key request raised was the construction of traditional paddy field fencing, locally known as Peugeut Blang.
“We present a crucial aspiration to support land preparation across all of Beutong Ateuh. We urgently need the provision of Peugeut Blang,” said the farmer group representative.
He explained that Peugeut Blang is essential for safeguarding rice farming areas and supporting sustainable land maintenance and management.
“Without these field fences, we worry our land maintenance efforts will not be optimal,” he added.
Responding to the feedback, Head of DTPHP Nagan Raya Marzuki welcomed the input from the farmers and local community.
He assured that all aspirations voiced during the meeting would be submitted in a report to leadership, particularly to the Regent of Nagan Raya.
“We will gather all aspirations from the farmer groups and the community and report them to our leadership, the Regent of Nagan Raya.
Hopefully, the community’s needs can be addressed in accordance with our capacity and applicable regulations,” Marzuki stated.
New Hope for Farmers
The meeting served not only as an information session, but also as a direct communication channel between the government and the farming community.
Through paddy field rehabilitation, machinery support, production supplies, and direct dialogue, farmers in Beutong Ateuh are expected to bounce back and cultivate their land productively once again.
The Nagan Raya Regency Government reaffirmed that restoring the agricultural sector is a vital component of rebuilding post-disaster livelihoods while strengthening regional food security.
