Aceh – Indonesia, A medium-voltage overhead power pole (SUTM) collapsed and fell across the road in the Ladang Rimba area, Trumon Tengah District, South Aceh Regency, on Friday morning (2/10/2026).
The incident triggered a widespread power outage affecting six districts simultaneously. The disrupted network serves the Subulussalam – Trumon and Bakongan supply line.
As a result, power supply to Trumon, Trumon Tengah, Trumon Timur, Bakongan, Bakongan Timur, and Kota Bahagia districts has been completely cut off.
In addition to severing the electricity supply, the collapsed pole and low-hanging cables pose a significant hazard to commuters traveling through the area.
Manager of PLN ULP Kota Fajar, Zafandilla, stated that the pole likely collapsed due to unstable ground eroded by water. “It appears the soil surrounding the pole was eroded by water, leaving it unable to support the pole’s structure,” he explained.
He added that upon receiving the report, PLN immediately dispatched a technical team fully equipped with materials to the location to conduct repairs and secure the area. “The team has left, and materials are ready. We are striving to complete the repairs as quickly as possible,” he said.
As of this reporting, there is no definitive timeline for when power will be fully restored. PLN has urged residents to remain patient and stay updated via the 123 service center or the PLN Mobile app.
PLN also reminded the public not to approach the collapsed pole or dangling wires, emphasizing that handling must only be performed by authorized personnel.
Secretary-General of SEKBER Aceh Relawan Mualem-Dek Fadh, Irwan Syahputra (Syech Wan), commented on the incident, highlighting that it serves as a critical reminder of the need for comprehensive post-disaster infrastructure inspections.
“It shouldn’t just be a cursory glance; it requires thorough technical inspections. Poles, towers, and distribution lines in affected areas must be verified as fully safe so they don’t endanger residents,” emphasized Syech Wan.
He expressed hope that this incident would spark a total evaluation of electrical infrastructure across impacted regions to prevent similar hazards in the future.(*)
