Aceh – Indonesia, Yemen’s Houthi group claimed to have struck an Aramco oil facility in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, using ballistic missiles and drones.
The attack was claimed as retaliation for Saudi airstrikes targeting Sanaa and several other provinces in Yemen.
“The Houthis have carried out a military operation using ballistic missiles and drones targeting Aramco in Riyadh,” announced Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree on Sunday (4/10/2026).
The Houthi claim came after eyewitnesses reported thick plumes of smoke and flames rising around the Aramco facility in Riyadh. However, there has been no immediate confirmation from Saudi Arabian authorities regarding the alleged attack.
The strike occurred amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthis.
In recent times, the Houthis have intensified attacks against several Saudi cities and energy infrastructure sites.
Last week, the Houthis also claimed to have targeted an Aramco facility in Yanbu with missiles and drones.
At the time, Saudi Arabia stated it had intercepted six ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis toward Taif and the Yanbu region, reporting no damage to Aramco facilities.(*)
