The central government has officially taken over the payment of salaries for First-Grade Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), which had previously been the responsibility of regional governments (Pemda), starting next year. This was agreed upon by the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) in the posture of the 2027 State Budget Draft (RAPBN).

Chairman of the DPR Budget Committee Said Abdullah stated that his party and the government have agreed to cover the salary or honorarium needs of regional PPPK employees, most of whom are educators and healthcare workers. The budget allocated for this policy reaches IDR 23 trillion.

“We have allocated IDR 23 trillion in the 2027 RAPBN,” Said stated as quoted by detikcom on Wednesday (30/9/2026).

Said assessed that transferring the employee salary burden to the central government will reduce the personnel budget burden on local governments. “This budgeting will ease the burden of personnel spending requirements for regional governments,” he explained.

Furthermore, he urged the acceleration of resolving underpaid Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH) by utilizing government investment operators. This effort aims to build regional infrastructure without adding extra burden to the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

“Accelerating the settlement of underpaid revenue sharing funds, among others, by utilizing government investment operators,” he said. []
