Aceh – Indonesia, The Indonesian Institute of the Arts and Culture (ISBI) Aceh and the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Aceh Besar Regency signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the ISBI Aceh Auditorium on Wednesday (7/10/2026). The signing was conducted by the Rector of ISBI Aceh, Prof. Dr. Wildan, M.Pd., and the Chairman of Bawaslu Aceh Besar, Junaidi, S.E.

This agreement marks the initial step in the collaboration between the two institutions to strengthen democratic education and participatory election supervision. Students are expected to play an active role in raising public awareness about the importance of safeguarding the quality of democracy.

โ€œThis partnership creates opportunities for ISBI Aceh students to contribute to democratic education through arts and culture. We hope this understanding translates into joint activities that benefit both students and the broader community,โ€ said Prof. Wildan.

โ€œThrough this collaboration with Aceh Besar Bawaslu, we aim to encourage students to become more caring, critical, and active in civic life. Artistic capability can serve as a creative and easily understandable medium for conveying democratic messages,โ€ he added.

Chairman of Bawaslu Aceh Besar, Junaidi, S.E., stated that students hold a strategic position in participatory oversight. โ€œStudents play a crucial role in election supervision,โ€ Junaidi said. He hopes participants will pass on the knowledge gained to their campus environment and the general public.

The MoU signing ceremony was paired with the Participatory Supervisory Education (P2P) program, equipping students with training on resolving election process disputes, reporting alleged violations, and developing participatory supervision initiatives.

The event also led to the creation of the MUSISI (Youth Democratic Arts) community as a platform for students to continue participatory supervision through artistic creativity. The collaboration between both institutions is expected to endure in building democratic awareness among the younger generation.(rao)
