Aceh – Indonesia, ⁷ The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) Aceh hopes Shorinji Kempo remains Aceh’s flagship martial arts sport in the pursuit of gold medals at the XXII NTT-NTB 2028 National Sports Week (PON).
This expectation was conveyed by the Vice Chairman II for Organizational Affairs of KONI Aceh, T. Rayuan Sukma, representing KONI Aceh Chairman Saiful Bahri, also known as Pon Yaya, at the opening of the Provincial Brotherhood Conference (Muperprov) of the Indonesian Shorinji Kempo Association (Perkemi) Aceh at Seventeen Hotel, Banda Aceh, Wednesday (30/9/2026).
Rayuan emphasized that Perkemi is one of Aceh’s leading sports branches. The consistency of this achievement is proven in the last four PON editions, where kempo consistently contributed gold medals for Aceh, including at the XXI Aceh-Sumut 2024 PON.
“Aceh’s Perkemi is a mainstay martial arts sport for KONI Aceh that continuously contributes gold medals in every PON, especially in the last four editions,” Rayuan stated.
Not only in regular PON, kempo’s dominance was also evident at the 2025 Martial Arts PON in Kudus, Central Java. At that event, Shorinji Kempo was the only sports branch to present a gold medal for Aceh.
“At the martial arts PON in Kudus in 2025, kempo was the only sport that presented a gold medal for Aceh. This saved KONI Aceh at the national event,” he said.
Solid Organization as the Key to Achievement
According to Rayuan, a solid and harmonious organization is a primary requirement for successful development and achieving maximum performance.
He assessed that the management of Perkemi Aceh for the 2022-2026 period under the leadership of Dr. Islahuddin, Ec CA, had demonstrated such solidness.
During that period, the organization was considered cohesive and never experienced internal conflict, allowing the athlete development process to run smoothly and successfully yield gold medals at the PON.
-2030 can continue the same tradition of leadership, so that athlete development runs optimally and is able to maintain the gold medal tradition at the XXII NTT-NTB 2028 PON.
Meanwhile, during the Muperprov, Erwin Ferdinansyah, ST MT was officially trusted to lead the Provincial Board (Pengprov) of Perkemi Aceh as General Chairman for the 2026-2030 period, succeeding Islahuddin.(*).
