Aceh – Indonesia, Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has been admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for observation following the passing of his wife, Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.

“He was admitted to IJN for observation,” his son, Mokhzani Mahathir, was quoted as saying by The Star on Wednesday (30/9/2026).

Mokhzani stated that his father had been through a very difficult time over the past two days after Siti Hasmah passed away. However, he assured that Mahathir’s condition remains stable.

“For now, his condition is good and not cause for concern,” he said.

Previously, Siti Hasmah passed away at IJN at the age of 100 on Monday (28/9/2026) morning. Her body was laid to rest at the Heroes’ Mausoleum, Precinct 20, Putrajaya, on the same day through a state funeral service.

Another of Mahathir’s sons, Mukhriz Mahathir, previously mentioned that Mahathir had been at IJN to accompany his wife while she received medical treatment prior to her passing.

Mahathir and Siti Hasmah were married on August 5, 1956. This year marked their 70th wedding anniversary, and they were blessed with seven children.
