Aceh – Indonesia, LANGSA CITY The controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in the construction project of 41 units of Rumah Sehat (Healthy Houses) in Langsa City has resurfaced. Following previous calls for law enforcement to take the matter seriously, the Gadjah Putih NGO is now firmly requesting the Langsa Police to publicly disclose the legal status of the case handling.

Executive Director of Gadjah Putih, Sayed Zahirsyah, assessed that legal certainty is an absolute necessity to prevent information among the public from ending up in wild speculation. His side urges the police to be transparent regarding the position of the case funded by the 2025 Fiscal Year Aceh Special Autonomy Fund (DOKA).

“We request the Langsa Police to be transparent. As of today, the public wants to know whether an Investigation Order (Sprinlid) has been issued or if it is still in the information-gathering stage. Do not let this issue become a wild ball and create various perceptions among the community,” said Sayed Zahirsyah.

Demanding Certainty for the People

For Gadjah Putih, transparency does not mean revealing all investigation materials that are confidential in nature.

The public, Sayed said, only wants clarity regarding the legal steps taken by law enforcement officers, considering that the project is directly related to state money and public welfare facilities.

Previously, a similar demand was voiced by the GEUBRAK organization following a meeting with the Langsa Police leadership in mid-August. However, until now, the clarity of the legal status of the case is still considered hanging in the balance.

Gadjah Putih does not want this case to merely stop at information gathering without any clear, real follow-up.

Do Not Leave It Hanging

Sayed emphasized that if the initial review reveals indications of a crime, law enforcement must proceed professionally and objectively. However, if the handling is deemed more appropriate under the authority of the Langsa District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari), he requests that there be transparent coordination or transfer of the case in accordance with applicable mechanisms.

“If the Police feel unable or if there are jurisdictional or technical reasons that prevent this case from being handled optimally, do not leave it hanging. If it is indeed more appropriate to be handled by Kejari Langsa, please coordinate and transfer it according to the rules,” he asserted.

For comparison, Sayed cited the open steps demonstrated by Kejari Langsa in handling other corruption cases, such as the Gampong Alue Dua drainage project which successfully uncovered state losses of up to hundreds of millions of rupiah and named suspects. This kind of openness is what the people of Langsa City long for.

Now, the hot ball is in the hands of the Langsa Police. The public awaits a definitive answer: has this case moved to the investigation stage, or is it simply stagnating? []
