Aceh – Indonesia, The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has warned of the potential for moderate to very heavy rainfall across several regions of Aceh on Friday, October 2, 2026. Heavy rain is predicted to lash Nagan Raya.

In addition to Nagan Raya, heavy to very heavy rain that may be accompanied by strong winds is expected to hit Southwest Aceh, South Aceh, Southeast Aceh, North Aceh, Bener Meriah, Bireuen, Gayo Lues, Pidie, and Pidie Jaya.

Meanwhile, the areas of West Aceh, Aceh Besar, Aceh Jaya, Aceh Singkil, Central Aceh, Subulussalam, and Simeulue have the potential to experience moderate to heavy rain, which could also be accompanied by strong winds.

As compiled by Nukilan from the three-day extreme weather potential page, BMKG has placed Aceh under a “watch” (siaga) status for heavy to very heavy rain on October 2, followed by an “advisory” (waspada) status for moderate to heavy rain on October 3 and 4, 2026.

Wet conditions are also reflected in the BMKG rainfall forecast for the first ten days (Dasarian I) of October. West Aceh, Nagan Raya, and Southwest Aceh are predicted to experience high rainfall, ranging from 150 to 300 millimeters per ten-day period.

For total accumulation throughout October, BMKG projects high rainfall, between 300 and 500 millimeters, in Aceh Jaya, Pidie, West Aceh, Nagan Raya, Central Aceh, Gayo Lues, South Aceh, Aceh Singkil, Southeast Aceh, and Subulussalam. Meanwhile, Southwest Aceh is forecasted to fall into the very high category, exceeding 500 millimeters per month.

BMKG previously explained that the increased potential for rain in Aceh is influenced by Rossby Equatorial Wave activity, wind shear areas, and convergence zones that favor the growth of convective clouds.

Given the widespread coverage of affected areas, residents in regions prone to heavy rain are urged to stay updated on BMKG early warnings, particularly regarding potential hydrometeorological impacts such as waterlogging, floods, and landslides. []
