Aceh – Indonesia, Deputy Governor (Wagub) of Aceh, Fadhlullah (Dek Fadh), accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Pidie Jaya, Assistant II of Pidie Jaya, and the Head of the Leadership Administration Bureau of the Aceh Regional Secretariat, conducted a direct inspection of Krueng Meureudu, specifically the Seunong Irrigation Area (D.I.) in Meurah Dua District, Monday (5/10/2025).
The inspection was carried out after residents contacted Deputy Governor Dek Fadh to express their complaints regarding the condition of D.I. Seunong, which has not yet received attention. Following up on these aspirations, Deputy Governor Dek Fadh went directly to the location to assess the condition of the irrigation system while listening to the community’s needs.
At the inspection site, residents explained that the damage to D.I. Seunong had disrupted the water supply needed for their daily activities. To maintain the water flow, community members have been voluntarily working together through mutual cooperation (gotong royong) to keep the irrigation system functioning.
Responding to these conditions, Deputy Governor Dek Fadh emphasized that the government would immediately address the issue so that the damaged irrigation system would no longer negatively affect the public. He has also coordinated with the River Basin Center (BWS) to push for budget allocation so that the revitalization of D.I. Seunong can be carried out promptly.
“We have seen the conditions firsthand and heard what the residents had to say. I have coordinated with the BWS so that the repairs can be budgeted immediately and work can begin,” he stated.
Meanwhile, at Krueng Meureudu, Deputy Governor Dek Fadh also inspected the ongoing mitigation work previously carried out through the installation of boulder armor (batu gajah). These activities are still progressing in accordance with the government budget execution.
As a follow-up, Deputy Governor Dek Fadh stressed that the Aceh Provincial Government will continue to monitor coordination with the BWS to ensure the repairs on D.I. Seunong are realized soon. This effort is expected to restore irrigation functionality and ensure the community’s water needs are met, particularly for agricultural activities in the Meurah Dua region.
