Aceh – Indonesia, Acute respiratory infection (ARI) cases in Lhokseumawe City reached 9,048 from January to September 2026. The figure indicates an upward trend over the past two months due to changing weather and seasonal transitions.
Acting Head of the Lhokseumawe Health Office, Ichsan Nanda, stated that 1,475 ARI cases were recorded in August 2026. That number subsequently rose to 1,550 cases in September.
โAn increase in cases has been visible in recent months. In August 2026, 1,475 ARI cases were recorded, while in September, the number increased to 1,550 cases,โ Ichsan told AJNN on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
According to Ichsan, weather changes and seasonal transitions are among the factors that can trigger health problems, particularly illnesses affecting the respiratory tract.
He noted that the surge in ARI cases became noticeable over the past few weeks. Consequently, the public is urged to heighten vigilance by adopting a healthy lifestyle to maintain their immune system.
โPeople are advised to get plenty of rest, maintain a healthy routine, drink plenty of water, and eat nutritious food,โ he said.
In addition to maintaining good physical condition, individuals who experience persistent ARI symptoms are advised to seek immediate medical attention at healthcare facilities.
Ichsan suggested that residents visit local community health centers (puskesmas) for appropriate medical examinations and treatment.
โIf it doesnโt heal, immediately get checked at the puskesmas to receive proper medication and care,โ he added.***
