Aceh – Indonesia, The Thursday morning air until the completion of the inauguration process for 47 keuchiks in Harun Lhokseumawe was slightly overcast. Thousands of invited guests from various remote gampongs attended the inauguration site at Harun Mart, Cunda, on October 8, 2026.

The distinct white shirts and trousers were enough to make the 20 by 50 meter room feel ‘humble’.

Similarly, on the north side, rows of chairs occupied by the keuchiks’ wives wearing kebayas added to the charm of the inauguration ceremony for the gampong ‘kings’.

Meanwhile, most supporters had to wait outside the room, as hundreds of invited guests had already filled the available seats.

Following the inauguration, the Mayor of Lhokseumawe, Dr. Sayuti Abubakar, took group photos with the keuchiks who were elected in the simultaneous local election.

Meanwhile, supporters of the newly inaugurated keuchiks patiently waited outside to take photos with them as well.

Prior to the inauguration, Keuchik Zulkarnaen stepped forward to recite the pledge.

As of this reporting, the inauguration of the 47 keuchiks, along with one Interim Replacement (PAW) keuchik, proceeded smoothly and safely. (ung)
