Aceh – Indonesia, Azhari, Editor-in-Chief of the aentenews.com portal, has officially registered as a prospective candidate for Chairman of the Honor Board (DK) of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Aceh ahead of the PWI Aceh conference scheduled for November 2026.

Azhari, who currently serves as Vice Chairman for Journalist Defense and Advocacy at PWI Aceh, received the registration form handed over by Steering Committee Secretary Iranda Novandi at the PWI Aceh building in Kuta Alam, Banda Aceh City, on Thursday afternoon (8/10/2026).

Azhari joined PWI Aceh as a member around 1999. At that time, he was a correspondent for the Antara News Agency’s Aceh Bureau.

Iranda explained that since registration opened, three people have picked up forms for the PWI chairman position, namely M Nasir Nurdin, M Saman, and Sayuti Ahmad. Meanwhile, prospective candidates for Chairman of the Honor Board include Tarmilin Usman, M Zairin, and Azhari.

“We urge all prospective candidates to study and fulfill the applicable requirements to run, including securing the 10 percent endorsement threshold from the temporary voter list (DPS),” Iranda said.

Meanwhile, Azhari stated that he felt called to enter the PWI Aceh Honor Board race purely out of dedication. If elected, he expressed readiness to work alongside other board members to foster a prestigious and dignified association.

In addition to his role as Vice Chairman of Journalist Advocacy, Azhari currently serves as Chairman of the PWI Aceh Tinta Emas Cooperative.

In his journalism career at the Antara News Agency prior to retiring in August 2025, he previously served as Bureau Chief in Jambi, West Sumatra, Aceh, and North Sumatra, as well as Acting Corporate Secretary of Perum LKBN Antara.[]
