Aceh – Indonesia, The Aceh Provincial Government officially opened the Aceh PSSI Ordinary Congress in Sigli, Pidie Regency, on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The congress serves as a forum to elect the Chairman of PSSI Aceh for the 2026–2030 period, as well as a momentum to strengthen football development and governance in Aceh.
The event was attended by representatives of the Central PSSI Executive Committee, Juli Rahman; Deputy Speaker of the Aceh DPR, Saifuddin Muhammad; Chairman of the Aceh DPR Legislative Body (Banleg), Irfansyah; and the Pidie Police Chief, represented by the Deputy Police Chief. Also present were the Pidie Military District Commander (Dandim), members of the Pidie DPRK, and representatives of the Pidie Regent.
The congress was opened by the Head of the Aceh Youth and Sports Service (Kadispora), T Banta Nuzullah, representing the Aceh Government. On that occasion, Banta read a remark from the Deputy Governor of Aceh, Fadhullah, who appreciated the convening of the congress as an important part of the organizational process and football development in Aceh.
In the speech, the Aceh Government expressed hope that the congress would proceed democratically, orderly, in a sporting manner, transparently, and with a spirit of brotherhood.
“Differences in choices and views within an organizational process are considered normal, but all parties are expected to continue prioritizing the advancement of Aceh football,” he stated.
He also expressed hope that the leadership of PSSI Aceh for the 2026–2030 period would be able to improve organizational governance, strengthen early childhood and youth football development, enhance the quality of competitions, and create more opportunities for local talent to achieve success.
According to him, football is not merely a sport, but also a means to build character, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while providing a space for the younger generation to excel.
Therefore, he said, football development in Aceh needs to be carried out sustainably, starting from football schools, clubs, youth competitions, coaches, and referees, to athlete training leading to the national level.
In addition, he mentioned that Aceh possesses abundant football talent that needs to be scouted, nurtured, and provided room to grow. To achieve this, synergy is required among PSSI Aceh, KONI Aceh, local governments, clubs, schools, the education sector, the business community, and the public.
Whoever is ultimately elected to lead PSSI Aceh for the 2026–2030 period, the Aceh Government hopes the trust will be carried out with full responsibility, embracing all elements of football, and making the advancement of Aceh football a shared priority.
The PSSI Aceh Leadership Ordinary Congress for the 2026–2030 period was then declared officially open by the Aceh Government, with the expectation of producing leadership and decisions that support the future of Aceh football.***
