Aceh – Indonesia, Academic Rocky Gerung emphasized that joining the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) as a member has not altered his stance or views.

This statement was delivered by Rocky after being sworn in as a member of Wantimpres.

Rocky stated that his decision to enter the administration does not mean he is abandoning the principles he has held so far.

He likened the move to simply shifting positions from outside to inside the government.

“Well, it’s just a move. I’m simply moving from the outside to the inside. My stance remains the same, my view remains the same: a radical break. That’s it,” Rocky said.

Rocky stressed that the function of Wantimpres is not merely to criticize policies, but to maintain a critical mindset toward policy.

According to him, this duty requires ethical sensitivity and the ability to view issues more deeply.

“Everything that is ethical is mandatory, imperative, normative. Now, that is the difference between ethical policy and technical policy,” Rocky concluded.

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 26 members of the Presidential Advisory Council at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, on Friday (2/10/2026). Former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno was appointed as chairman.

Meanwhile, the vice-chairman position is held by [2024], and the role of secretary is served by former head of the Government Communication Agency Muhammad Qodari.

A number of prominent figures were also sworn in, including Chairul Tanjung (Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs 2024), Quraish Shihab (Minister of Religious Affairs 1998), and Yahya Cholil Staquf (General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama 2021–2026).
