Aceh – Indonesia, Aceh’s import value in August 2026 reached USD 82.67 million, marking a dramatic surge of 176.51 percent compared to August 2025.
Head of BPS Aceh, Agus Andria, stated that imports also edged up by 0.96 percent compared to July 2026, which was recorded at USD 81.89 million.
βThe spike in August imports was primarily driven by propane and butane gas, valued at USD 76.06 million. This commodity contributed approximately 92 percent to Aceh’s total imports,β he explained.
In addition to gas, Aceh imported inorganic chemicals from India worth USD 3.89 million, as well as machinery and mechanical appliances from Malaysia valued at USD 2.32 million.
In terms of country of origin, the United States emerged as Aceh’s largest import source, totaling USD 76.06 million, fully consisting of propane and butane gas shipments.
Meanwhile, Aceh’s export value in August 2026 stood at USD 74 million. This figure represents an 11.49 percent decline compared to July 2026, though it grew by 29.54 percent year-on-year against August 2025.
βBecause the value of imports exceeded exports, Aceh’s foreign trade recorded a deficit of USD 8.67 million in August 2026,β he added.
BPS Aceh noted that trade deficits also previously occurred in October 2025 and May 2026.
