Aceh – Indonesia, Regent of Aceh Tamiang, Inspector General of Police (Ret.) Drs. Armia Pahmi, M.H., chose to hit the streets himself to inspect ground conditions while gathering feedback directly from local residents.

He conducted the field visit on foot, walking through several areas across Kualasimpang City. Along the way, the Regent engaged in open dialogues with community members and listened firsthand to various issues they raised.

According to Regent Armia, taking to the streets is one way for the regional government to foster closer communication with the public. By observing conditions directly, the government is expected to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the citizens’ problems.

“Through this approach, we can directly hear the diverse challenges faced by the community and take prompt, accurate measures to resolve them,” Regent Armia stated on Wednesday (10/7/2026).

During the walk, several locations were visited, including the Social Services Warehouse, the Sriwijaya Village Office, and Tanjung Rambut Elementary School.

Head of Kualasimpang Sub-district, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Dr. Cakra Arbas, SHI, MH, noted that the Regent conducts these morning neighborhood walks almost daily.

“Starting early in the morning, the Regent does this almost every day. He walks from the official residence, meets residents along the way, and listens directly to their aspirations,” Cakra said.

He explained that on Wednesday (10/7/2026), the Regent walked to the Social Services Warehouse to conduct an inspection. Afterward, the entourage proceeded to the Sriwijaya Village Office before heading to Tanjung Rambut Elementary School.

“Throughout the journey, the Regent met with local residents and heard their feedback directly,” he added.

This direct field engagement opens up vital communication channels between the local government and the public. Residents can express their challenges directly, while officials gain a clear view of ground realities that are not always visible from behind a desk.

However, gathering public feedback is only the first step. The issues raised by residents need to be inventoried and followed up on by the relevant regional agencies, ensuring that these dialogues lead to concrete action rather than just listening to complaints.

The head of the region’s presence among the people stands as a tangible demonstration of local government care for its citizens. I Rahmadhan
