Aceh – Indonesia, The organizing committee of the 2026 West Aceh Regent and Vice Regent Cup football tournament is set to reschedule the match between the Meureubo District Team and the Bubon District Team. The decision was made following a controversy regarding alleged player eligibility violations during their previous encounter.

The rematch schedule was outlined in a tournament continuation announcement issued by the organizing committee on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

The announcement explained that the tournament had been temporarily halted due to several issues. One major issue was the decision to disqualify the Meureubo District Team for allegedly fielding an ineligible player during their match against Bubon District to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

To resolve the issue, the committee held a meeting with the West Aceh Regent and Vice Regent, the Head of Operations for the West Aceh Police, the Head of the Youth and Sports Agency, West Aceh PSSI officials, the Refereeing Board, as well as the district heads of Bubon, Meureubo, and Woyla.

The meeting resulted in a consensus to reschedule the match between Meureubo and Bubon. However, the game must adhere to strict conditions: the ineligible players are barred from participating, and the match will be held behind closed doors without spectators.

Additionally, Meureubo, Bubon, and all teams that have qualified for the quarter-finals are required to sign a formal stamped statement. The document serves as a commitment to uphold sportsmanship and guarantee that matches proceed without causing disruption.

Previously, the Meureubo District Team was disqualified from the 2026 West Aceh Regent and Vice Regent Cup for fielding an ineligible player who was serving a suspension due to accumulated yellow cards.

However, the Meureubo team management rejected the ruling issued by the committee and the West Aceh PSSI, demanding that the disqualification be revoked.

The committee subsequently held mediation sessions with PSSI, representatives from all district teams, and relevant stakeholders to find a solution, though initial efforts failed to reach an agreement.

With the rescheduling decision finalized, the match between Meureubo and Bubon will proceed under the conditions agreed upon during the joint stakeholder meeting.
