Aceh – Indonesia, A fisherman had to seek assistance from firefighters after a fishhook became deeply embedded in his index finger and could not be removed, on Saturday night, October 3, 2026.
The fisherman, identified as Harnan Arsyarwi (33), a resident of Gampong Lamkrut, Lhoknga District, Aceh Besar, was at Meuraxa Hospital, Banda Raya District, Banda Aceh City at the time of the incident.
Masnawi, an officer from the BPBD Aceh Besar Operations Control Center (Pusdalops), stated that the emergency call was received around 8:32 PM local time. Firefighters from the BPBD Aceh Besar Main Post were immediately dispatched to the location.
βThe victim requested help because the fishing hook was firmly stuck in his index finger and could not be dislodged,β Masnawi said on Sunday (10/4/2026).
He explained that upon arrival, officers asked the victim to sit down and remain calm before proceeding with the intervention.
Firefighters then carefully used a mini grinder to cut the fishhook embedded in the victim’s finger.
“Following a careful operation, the hook was successfully removed at around 9:22 PM,” he revealed.
The rescue operation was carried out by personnel from the BPBD Aceh Besar Main Post after receiving a call for help via emergency services.
