Aceh – Indonesia, Floods hit two sub-districts in Subulussalam City, Aceh, after high-intensity rainfall caused the Tempuran River to overflow into residential areas.
Head of the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA), Bahron Bakti, stated that the flooding occurred in Bukit Alim Village, Longkib Sub-district, and East Subulussalam Village, Simpang Kiri Sub-district, on Tuesday (30/9/2026).
βDue to the high intensity of rainfall, the Tempuran River overflowed into residential areas in Bukit Alim, Longkib Sub-district,β said Bahron in a disaster report quoted by Nukilan on Wednesday (30/9/2026).
In Longkib Sub-district, a total of 20 houses were submerged. The flood also damaged residents’ plantations as well as several roads and bridges.
A total of 20 households or 97 individuals were affected by the flooding in the area. However, no residents evacuated, and no casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, in Simpang Kiri Sub-district, eight residents’ houses were directly affected by the overflow. This condition impacted the daily activities of the surrounding community.
In addition to submerging houses, the flood caused structural damage to a bridge, leaving it at risk of collapsing.
βThe floodwaters have receded, but the bridge remains severely damaged,β he said.
Bahron added that the bridge damage has disrupted residents’ activities due to fears that the structure could collapse at any moment. A total of eight households were affected by the incident.
The Subulussalam City BPBD has conducted a rapid assessment and deployed its Rapid Response Team (TRC) to the site to evaluate and record the impact of the disaster.
According to the latest conditions, waters in several areas are gradually receding. However, puddles of water remain on several road sections.
Meanwhile, in Simpang Kiri Sub-district, the standing water has cleared. Officers continue to monitor the status of the severely damaged bridge.
