Aceh – Indonesia, Police General Suyudi Ario Seto has officially taken office as the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) after being sworn in by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (10/1/2026).
The inauguration also marked Suyudi’s promotion from Commissioner General (Komjen) to Police General, a four-star rank. Suyudi replaces Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who had led the National Police since 2021.
On the same occasion, Wahyu Hadiningrat was inaugurated as Deputy Chief of the National Police (Wakapolri), assisting Suyudi in leading the Bhayangkara Corps institution.
This change at the helm of the National Police took place after the House of Representatives (DPR) approved Suyudi as the Police Chief during a plenary session on Thursday morning. The approval was granted after House Commission III acclamatory agreed on Suyudi during the fit and proper test.
With his inauguration as the Police Chief, Suyudi now officially holds the rank of Police General. Previously, Suyudi held the rank of Komjen and served as the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
Suyudi was the sole candidate for Police Chief nominated by President Prabowo to succeed Listyo Sigit. During the fit and proper test at the DPR, Suyudi outlined several transformation agendas for the National Police, including institutional strengthening and improving community engagement.
Suyudi’s inauguration brings an end to Listyo Sigit’s tenure as National Police Chief.
Listyo Sigit Receives Bintang Mahaputera Adipurna
As part of the series of events, former Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo also received the Bintang Mahaputera Adipurna award.
The award was conferred as a token of honor for Listyo Sigit’s dedication and service during his tenure as Chief of Police.
In addition to Listyo Sigit, Police Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo was awarded the Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana. The conferment was part of the leadership transition sequence within the National Police on the same day.
