Aceh – Indonesia, The House of Representatives (DPR RI) Plenary Session at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (1/10/2026), approved the honorable discharge of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo from his position as National Police Chief. House Speaker Puan Maharani directly announced the approval during the session.
“Now we ask the honorable house session, can the report from House Commission III on the outcome of discussions regarding the proposal for the honorable discharge of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo from his position as National Police Chief be approved?” Puan Maharani asked.
The question was immediately answered with approval by the lawmakers attending the DPR Plenary Session.
Following approval for Listyo Sigit’s discharge, Puan Maharani requested the House’s approval regarding the appointment of Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto as the new National Police Chief.
The proposed appointment of Suyudi Ario Seto as National Police Chief was also approved by all council members present at the plenary meeting.
With this approval, the transition process of the National Police Chief from Listyo Sigit to Suyudi Ario Seto gained approval in the DPR Plenary Session.
During the DPR Plenary Session, Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto then introduced himself as the new National Police Chief candidate at the podium.
Suyudi also took a photo with the House leadership after introducing himself in the DPR Plenary Session.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto proposed the discharge of Listyo Sigit from his post as National Police Chief and the appointment of Suyudi Ario Seto as his successor through a presidential letter (surpres) sent to the House.
House Commission III subsequently conducted a fit and proper test on Suyudi before agreeing on his appointment as the new National Police Chief candidate.
The approval in the DPR Plenary Session is part of the leadership transition within the Indonesian National Police from Listyo Sigit Prabowo to Suyudi Ario Seto.
