Aceh – Indonesia, Regent of Aceh Singkil Safriadi Oyon urged 57 newly inaugurated officials not to merely perform routine tasks and wait for orders from superiors. They are expected to be more sensitive to community issues and present solutions whenever submitting reports to leadership.

Oyon delivered this message during the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony for 57 administrator officials, supervisors, and new community health center (Puskesmas) officials within the Aceh Singkil Regional Government on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

The inauguration took place at the hall/offroom of the Aceh Singkil Regent’s Office in Pulo Sarok at around 5:45 PM WIB and concluded before Maghrib prayers. The ceremony was attended by the Regional Secretary, members of the DPRK, representatives from the military and police (TNI-Polri), the Inspector, the Secretary of the DPRK, and several local government officials.

Of the 57 officials inaugurated, 50 were structural administrator and supervisory officials, while seven were Puskesmas officials.

Head of the Legal Bureau of the Aceh Singkil Regional Secretariat, Asmaruddin, read the regent’s decree regarding the appointment of the administrator and supervisory officials. The ceremony continued with the taking of the oath, as well as the signing of work agreements and an integrity pact, represented by Mursal.

In his remarks, Oyon emphasized that the inauguration was not merely a transfer or filling of positions within the government structure. According to him, a position is a trust linked to the responsibility of ensuring public services run smoothly.

“A position is not just about authority, but about responsibility, presence, and the ability to provide solutions,” Oyon stated.

He asked the newly inaugurated officials not to become bureaucrats who only work when instructed or appear when called. They are expected to assess situations, build coordination, and take corrective measures within their authority.

“I want you to be officials who are present, sensitive to circumstances, responsive to issues, capable of reading the situation, building coordination, and brave enough to take action within your authority,” he said.

Oyon also requested that officials maintain sensitivity toward issues in their respective work areas. Public complaints, he noted, must be addressed immediately so that minor issues do not escalate into larger problems.

According to Oyon, resolving governmental problems cannot always be handled by a single regional department. Therefore, cross-agency coordination is essential.

“Do not work in sectoral silos. Build communication and coordination to find joint solutions,” he urged.

He also reminded officials not to be mere messengers of problems to leadership. Every report, Oyon stressed, must be accompanied by data, analysis, solution options, and recommended actionable steps.

Furthermore, officials were asked to maintain internal government solidarity and detect early any issues that could potentially disrupt public services, government stability, and public trust.

Specifically for the heads of health centers who were also inaugurated, Oyon requested that these principles be applied in health services. Puskesmas must become institutions close to the community, quick to respond to complaints, and capable of reading the health needs in their respective areas.

“We do not need officials who merely look busy; we need officials who deliver results,” Oyon said.

He added that positions have time limits, while responsibilities and a legacy of service will always be remembered. Therefore, newly inaugurated officials were asked to use this mandate to improve service quality and resolve community challenges.***
