Aceh – Indonesia, Chinese national Lu Haiying officially embraced Islam after pronouncing the Shahada at the Baitul Aβla Grand Mosque (Jade Mosque), Nagan Raya Regency, on Monday (10/5/2026). Following his conversion, the former Buddhist changed his name to Luhay Ahmad Budiman Syah.
The conversion ceremony was led directly by the Chairman of the Nagan Raya Consultative Council of Ulama (MPU), Tgk. H. Said Muntazar, and witnessed by the Regent of Nagan Raya, Dr. Teuku Raja Keumangan, S.H., M.H. (TRK).
Also present at the ceremony were Vice Regent of Nagan Raya Raja Sayang, Speaker of the Nagan Raya DPRK Mohd. Rizki Ramadhan, Head of the Nagan Raya District Attorney’s Office Arwin Adinata, Commander of Military District 0116/Nagan Raya Lieutenant Colonel Inf Irfan Hade Fitrianto, and Nagan Raya Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Muhammad Taufiq.
Regent of Nagan Raya, Dr. Teuku Raja Keumangan, expressed his gratitude for Budiman’s decision to embrace Islam in Nagan Raya. He appreciated the convert’s intention, which he believes brings blessings to the region.
“In fact, Mr. Budiman has wanted to convert to Islam for a long time, but it had not materialized until he finally chose to convert here at our Grand Mosque. We must be grateful, and hopefully, this brings blessings to Nagan Raya Regency,” TRK said in his remarks.
TRK added that Luhay Ahmad Budiman Syah is an Aceh Investment Ambassador appointed by the Governor and Vice Governor of Aceh, who is currently focusing on accelerating development in Nagan Raya Regency.
Meanwhile, Luhay Ahmad Budiman Syah expressed his relief and gratitude after officially becoming a Muslim. He revealed that his desire to embrace Islam had actually grown over the past 10 years.
“My intention to convert to Islam has been there for 10 years, and Praise be to God, it was realized today. This marks a new beginning in my life. I am grateful for the guidance and support from the Regent and the people of Nagan Raya,” Budiman said.
In addition, Budiman expressed his commitment to contributing to regional development, including assisting with the continued construction of the Jade Mosque of Baitul Aβla.
The event concluded with the presentation of an official certificate of conversion to Islam, the handover of Islamic educational gifts, and a joint prayer for the blessings of the Nagan Raya community.
