Aceh – Indonesia, The Central Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) has emphasized that it will not recognize the results of the Aceh PSSI Electoral Ordinary Congress, which proceeded despite ignoring an earlier directive requesting a temporary suspension of all congress stages.

PSSI Secretary-General Yunus Nusi stated that the official letter was signed and dispatched to Aceh PSSI on September 24, 2026.

“The PSSI letter, which I signed personally, was sent if I recall correctly on September 24, 2026. PSSI instructed Aceh PSSI to postpone all processes and stages of the PSSI congress in Aceh,” Yunus Nusi said in a media statement on Tuesday (10/6).

According to Yunus, the letter was issued after Central PSSI received several letters and inputs from voters and football stakeholders in Aceh, including the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) Aceh branch.

He added that these inputs would be thoroughly reviewed by Central PSSI. Nevertheless, Yunus expressed hope that Aceh PSSI would comply with the request communicated through the official letter.

“We hope Aceh PSSI carries out our request as stated in the letter. Hopefully, Aceh PSSI accepts this, and we will appreciate it if the letter is properly implemented by Aceh PSSI,” he said.

Yunus also mentioned that Central PSSI had sent a rejection letter regarding the holding of the congress. He noted that while Aceh PSSI has the right to respond to the letter, Central PSSI maintains its request that the instructions issued on September 24, 2026, be followed.

Regarding Article 39 paragraph (1) concerning the 14-working-day notification requirement and other provisions related to approving congress agendas, Yunus explained that every provision in the statutes is interconnected.

However, he clarified that the primary issue is not merely about statutory clauses, but rather the existence of an official letter from Central PSSI instructing a temporary halt to all congress phases.

“What matters most to us is not the specific clause, but that an official letter was delivered to Aceh PSSI. If they disregard it, that is their decision, but one thing is certain: Central PSSI does not recognize the congress they organized,” he asserted.

PSSI Presence Requires Official Mandate

Yunus stressed that any representation of Central PSSI at a congress must be verified through an official letter of mandate issued by the General Chairman of PSSI.

“Whoever represents Central PSSI must be administratively confirmed through a letter of mandate provided by the General Chairman,” he said.

Therefore, if a congress is held without an official mandate from the General Chairman of PSSI, Yunus stated that the event cannot be regarded as an official PSSI congress.

“As long as there is no mandate from the General Chairman to attend, it is certainly not an official congress,” he added. (rif)

PSSI Prepares Measures Following Expiration of Executive Board’s Term

Addressing the tenure of the current Aceh PSSI executive board, which is scheduled to expire on October 10, 2026, Yunus said Central PSSI still has time to determine its next steps.

He indicated that his office would conduct internal communications and seek guidance from the General Chairman of PSSI regarding the end of the term. “There are still a few days left. The tenure of Aceh PSSI ends around October 10, 2026, if I am not mistaken,” he said.

According to Yunus, Central PSSI will discuss the possibility of appointing an interim head (Plt) to manage the organizational affairs of Aceh PSSI once the term ends.

“We will communicate internally whether an interim head will be appointed by the General Chairman, and we will request directions regarding the end of Aceh PSSI’s term,” he explained.

Previously, Central PSSI issued a letter dated September 24, 2026, requesting Aceh PSSI to temporarily suspend all phases and execution of the Aceh PSSI Electoral Ordinary Congress.

The letter, signed by Yunus Nusi, was addressed to the Chairman of Aceh PSSI. In it, Central PSSI stated it had received numerous submissions and feedback from members and football stakeholders in Aceh concerning the dynamics leading up to the congress.

“Central PSSI has received many letters of input from members and football stakeholders in Aceh,” the letter read.

After evaluating these inputs, Central PSSI requested that Aceh PSSI temporarily halt all stages of the Electoral Ordinary Congress.

Central PSSI stated that this decision was made in light of the ongoing dynamics within Aceh football and to ensure that organizational operations continue in accordance with PSSI Statutes and governing regulations.

The temporary suspension was also deemed necessary to ensure certainty in organizing the Aceh PSSI Congress.

In the letter, Central PSSI urged Aceh PSSI to pay close attention to the suspension request and execute it accordingly.

Yunus also expressed hope that the Aceh Provincial Government and KONI Aceh would understand and respect the notification sent by Central PSSI. “Ultimately, we expect the letter to be fully complied with by Aceh PSSI,” he concluded. (rif)
