Aceh – Indonesia, The Library Center of Universitas Bina Bangsa Getsempena (UBBG) held a training workshop on writing innovative and scientific works themed “Solutions for On-Time Graduation: Overcoming Methodological Obstacles in Thesis Preparation.” The event was attended by 76 students.

Event committee chair Syifa Andina stated in her opening remarks that the training is part of the UBBG Library’s 2026 work program. She emphasized that it is crucial for students to understand how a project is systematically designed—from identifying research problems, selecting research approaches, and determining data collection methods to analyzing data and resolving methodological challenges in drafting theses or innovative works.

Head of UBBG Library, Ashabul Kahfi, shared in his speech that this routine literacy program was successfully executed thanks to the support of UBBG’s leadership.
“Furthermore, the main objective of this event is to enhance participants’ abilities to produce high-quality, systematic, creative, and academic-standard works at UBBG. Most importantly, it aims to improve participants’ skills in selecting topics, formulating research questions, and structuring goals and methodologies,” he stated.

He added, “We encourage participants to generate innovative works that are applicable and beneficial for both the institution and society. This training will also continue through WhatsApp groups and subsequent sessions to review the draft works prepared by each participant at a later time.”

The first speaker, Zahraini, who serves as Head of the Career Development and Innovation Department at UBBG, delivered material on writing creative, innovative, and competitive works through high-quality writing. She explained that the core concept of an innovative work can involve adapting existing ideas without altering their fundamental meaning, while enhancing functions, contexts, methods, or verifiable technology. Innovative works originate from problems, ideas, novelty, prototypes, testing, and refinement. She further noted, “The innovative works produced can be registered for intellectual property rights or patents through the Directorate General of Intellectual Property under the Indonesian Ministry of Law.”

Meanwhile, the second speaker, Rita Novita, who is UBBG’s Vice Rector I for Academic and Innovation Affairs, outlined the academic writing guidelines at UBBG. She stressed that students must understand UBBG’s writing standards, which can be downloaded and read via their respective Opensimka accounts provided by the campus in soft copy format. This aligns with the Rector’s latest decree regarding policy changes for graduation requirements and cum laude honors for undergraduate and master’s programs.

“Furthermore, what students must understand first is that a scientific paper is an academic work that must be written using proper language structure, supported by scientific data rather than mere opinions, and formatted according to UBBG guidelines. This ensures high-quality academic outputs and significantly increases the chances of graduating on time and meeting targeted goals,” she explained.
