Aceh – Indonesia, The Aceh Provincial Board of the Indonesia Pickleball Federation (IPF) successfully held its inaugural Regional Championship (Kejurda). The tournament served as an administrative requirement to register the sport with the Aceh KONI, while also acting as an arena to scout potential young talent from various regencies and cities across Aceh.

The first Kejurda of the Aceh Pickleball Association, held at the Distanbun Aceh court, concluded on Sunday night, October 4, 2026. Pickleball itself is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis/ping pong.

Athletes from various regencies and cities in Aceh participated in the event, marking an important milestone in the development of pickleball in Indonesia’s westernmost province.

Chairman of the Aceh IPF Provincial Board, Nuzul Salamun Hayat, expressed his gratitude to all athletes, board members, committee members, and supporters who helped make the inaugural championship a success.

He noted that holding the Kejurda was not only aimed at fulfilling administrative criteria for the organization, but also at identifying promising young pickleball athletes for future development.

โ€œAlhamdulillah, this inaugural Kejurda went smoothly. We hope this event produces promising young pickleball talents who can be nurtured to bring pride to Aceh,โ€ said Nuzul.

He encouraged the competing athletes to keep training consistently, especially with the upcoming Student Sports Week in October, which offers another opportunity to sharpen their skills and gain competitive experience.

โ€œWe hope the athletes continue to train hard. With the Student Sports Week taking place this October, they can further hone their abilities,โ€ he added.

Nuzul also expressed appreciation for the sponsors who provided prize money and pickleball paddles to the winners, noting that such support serves as great motivation for athletes to pursue further achievements.

In the inaugural tournament, an athlete from Pidie Regency clinched first place in the singles category, while the runner-up spot went to an athlete from West Aceh.

Meanwhile, athletes from Gayo Lues and Bener Meriah shared the third-place title. All winners received prize money as a token of appreciation for their achievements.

Nuzul expressed hope that the first Kejurda marks the beginning of rapid growth for pickleball throughout Aceh.

โ€œThis is only half the battle; let us work together so that pickleball becomes a huge hit in Aceh,โ€ he stated.

With continuous training and increased participation across regencies and cities, pickleball is expected to become a sport capable of bringing national honors to Aceh.
