Aceh – Indonesia, The Pidie Jaya Regency Government is prioritizing economic recovery following hydrometeorological disasters to help restore normalcy to residents’ lives.

Pidie Jaya Regent Sibral Malasyi in Pidie Jaya stated that post-disaster recovery involves not only rebuilding damaged homes and infrastructure, but also reviving the local economy that serves as the people’s main livelihood.

“The Pidie Jaya Regency Government is prioritizing local economic recovery, including the agricultural sector among others. This recovery aligns with the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction programs,” said Regent Sibral Malasyi, as quoted by Antara on Tuesday (9/29/2026).

The Regent noted that the Pidie Jaya Regency Government continues to oversee post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction through data updates, field monitoring, and coordination with the central government.

According to him, post-disaster recovery must be carried out in an integrated manner. Constructing or repairing houses will not suffice if the community’s sources of livelihood, such as rehabilitated farmland, have not returned to normal.

“Therefore, the recovery of agricultural land and fishponds remains a closely monitored agenda so that community livelihoods can function once again.

To support the recovery of the agricultural sector, the Pidie Jaya Regency Government has provided 9.27 tons of hybrid corn seeds,” he said.

In addition to the economy, the Regent added, the Pidie Jaya Regency Government is prioritizing the restoration of basic public services, such as education and healthcare, while ensuring that the food needs of affected residents remain fulfilled during the transition period.

To address food requirements, the Pidie Jaya Regency Government has distributed government food reserves totaling 34,020 kilograms of rice to 6,804 residents in temporary shelters from Meureudu District, with each person receiving five kilograms.

“This assistance demonstrates that the recovery process focuses not only on physical infrastructure development, but also on ensuring the food security of the community throughout the transition period,” said Sibral Malasyi.
