Aceh – Indonesia, Registration for prospective candidates for the Chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Aceh and Chairman of the Provincial Honorary Council (DKP) for the 2026-2031 period has officially opened from Monday, October 5, 2026, to October 24, 2026.
The decision to start the screening process for prospective candidates for the PWI Aceh Chairman and DKP was made after the Steering Committee (SC) held a finalization meeting at the Aceh PWI Office on Friday, October 2, 2026.
The meeting was attended by all SC members, including Chairman Azwani Awi, Secretary Iranda Novandi, Imran Joni (Candidate Verification Working Group), Safriadi (Final Voters List Working Group), and Azhari Usman (Assembly Quorum Working Group).
“Based on the results of the finalization meeting, the screening for prospective candidates has officially opened as of Monday, October 5, 2026. This means that starting that day, prospective candidates can register and pick up the registration forms,” stated the Chairman of the Aceh PWI Provincial Conference SC, Azwani Awi, on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Azwani mentioned that under the Statutes/Bylaws (PD/PRT) and Organizational Regulations (PO) issued by the Central PWI, one of the main requirements for registering candidates is securing initial support from at least 10 percent of the total Final Voters List (DPT) of Provincial Conference participants.
Based on the current provisional voters list, which totals 320 voters for the Aceh PWI Provincial Conference scheduled for the third week of November 2026, candidates must obtain support from at least 32 full members of Aceh PWI to register.
The support letter must be signed directly by the supporter and accompanied by a photocopy of their blue PWI card (regular PWI card).
Meanwhile, for re-registration, prospective candidates must attach a photocopy of their Principal Competency Certificate and Card, as well as a statement letter declaring they are not involved or active as a political party official.
Other requirements include submitting a curriculum vitae, providing two color 4×6 photos, attaching a statement letter from their media company, submitting the PWI Management Decree (either provincial or regency/city level), and agreeing to sign an integrity pact.
“Other requirements that must be met can be reviewed during registration,” said the man affectionately known as Popon.
Popon also explained that prospective candidates are required to register in person and pick up the forms and requirements themselves. For candidates who register and pick up forms through a success team, they must include a mandate letter, or the name of the person picking up the forms must be listed in the candidate’s Success Team Decree.
“The registered prospective candidates will later be sent to the Central PWI for re-verification and official endorsement as candidates,” Popon explained.
