Aceh – Indonesia, Yemen’s Houthi group claimed to have launched strikes on Saudi Arabia’s state oil company Aramco’s facility in Riyadh using ballistic missiles and drones.
The attack was claimed as a retaliatory action against strikes launched by Saudi Arabia on Sanaa and several other provinces in Yemen.
“The Houthis have carried out a military operation using ballistic missiles and drones targeting Aramco in Riyadh,” military spokesperson Yahya Saree stated on Sunday (10/04/2026).
The Houthis’ claim emerged after eyewitnesses saw thick plumes of smoke and flames rising near the Aramco facility in Riyadh. However, there has been no immediate confirmation from Saudi Arabian authorities regarding the alleged attack.
The strike occurred amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthis.
In recent times, the Houthis have intensified attacks against several Saudi cities and energy infrastructure.
Last week, the Houthis also claimed to have attacked an Aramco facility in Yanbu with missiles and drones.
At the time, Saudi Arabia stated it had intercepted six ballistic missiles fired by the Houthis toward Taif and the Yanbu region, but reported no damage to Aramco facilities.(*)
