Aceh – Indonesia, Deputy Governor of Aceh Fadhlullah (Dek Fadh) has urged the acceleration of repairs for the Seunong Irrigation Area (D.I.) in Meurah Dua District, Pidie Jaya, which suffered damage and disrupted the water supply for the local community.
He conveyed the push after inspecting the condition of the Seunong Irrigation Area at Krueng Meureudu on Monday (5/10/2026). The inspection followed public reports complaining about the lack of action taken to address the irrigation damage.
At the location, residents explained that they had been forced to carry out self-funded community work to keep the water flowing, particularly to support their agricultural needs.
Dek Fadh stated that he has coordinated with the River Basin Territory Center (BWS) to push for the budgeting of the Seunong Irrigation Area repairs.
“We have seen the condition firsthand and heard what the community expressed. I have coordinated with the BWS so that handling this can be budgeted immediately and repairs can be carried out,” said Dek Fadh.
In addition to the Seunong Irrigation Area, Dek Fadh also inspected the mitigation efforts at Krueng Meureudu, which were previously undertaken by installing boulder armor (batu gajah). The work is still ongoing in accordance with government budget execution.
The Aceh Provincial Government, Dek Fadh added, will continue to oversee coordination with the BWS to ensure that repairs to the Seunong Irrigation Area are realized soon and irrigation functions are restored to meet community water needs and support agricultural activities.
