Aceh – Indonesia, A number of schools in Gayo Lues Regency are still in need of additional learning support facilities, particularly student desks and chairs (school furniture).
These limitations were found across several educational units, including schools located in disaster-affected areas as well as others. Based on compiled information, several schools still require additional student desks and chairs. In fact, some schools reportedly lack adequate principal desks.
Some of the schools highlighted include SD Negeri 1 Blangkejeren, SD Negeri 3 Kute Ujung, SMP Negeri 1 Blangkejeren, SD Negeri 7 Kute Panjang, and SD Negeri 8 Kute Panjang.
The condition of these facilities has become a pressing need that requires attention to ensure student comfort and smooth teaching and learning activities.
The Committee Chairman of SD Negeri 7 Berhut Village, Terangun District, Indra, stated that the need for school furniture remains one of the major challenges faced by the school.
According to him, the availability of decent desks and chairs is crucial to supporting students’ comfort during the learning process.
Education Office Acknowledges Ongoing Shortages
Head of the Gayo Lues Regency Education Office, Salid, S.Pd., MM, accompanied by Division Head Efendi Ilyas and Facilities Division Head Said Sala, acknowledged that several schools still require additional furniture.
Salid mentioned that the Gayo Lues Regency Government has been attempting to meet educational facility needs gradually, in accordance with the local budget capacity and government policies.
“Indeed, there are still several schools lacking furniture. We fought for some of these needs in previous years, but not all of them could be fulfilled,” Salid said.
According to Salid, fulfilling educational facilities requires support from various parties, including through programs from the central government and the Ministry of Education.
The Education Office, he added, will conduct a new inventory of needs for each school. This data will serve as a basis for requesting aid to overcome the shortage of educational facilities.
“For needs that remain unfulfilled, we will certainly continue to advocate alongside the Regent, including proposing support from the central government,” he stated.
The Gayo Lues Regency Government hopes central government support can help accelerate the procurement of educational facilities, especially for schools facing furniture shortages.
Fulfilling these basic facilities is considered vital so that teaching and learning activities can take place more comfortably and adequately for the students. (Rauf Ariga)
