BANDA ACEH – Dean of the Faculty of Law, Syiah Kuala University (USK), Zahratul Idami, stated that smart youth are students who stay away from narcotics and illicit drugs. She mentioned that students are a generation actively preparing for their future.

“Therefore, youth should be filled with studying, creating, building healthy social circles, and pursuing dreams, not with something that can ruin the future,” said Zahratul Idami in a press release received by AJNN on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

A similar sentiment was conveyed by Zahratul Idami during her remarks at a Community Service (PKM) event at SMK Negeri 1 Mesjid Raya Sub-district, Aceh Besar Regency, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The event was part of the PKM program held to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of USK.

A total of 80 students from SMK N 1 Mesjid Raya Sub-district participated in the event. Additionally, lecturers from the Faculty of Law, Syiah Kuala University (FH USK) attended, led by Prof. Iskandar A. Gani, alongside team members Prof. Syarifuddin Hasyim, Rosmawati, Intan Munirah, and Rifka Safira.

Zahratul mentioned that the theme of the event, “Smart Youth Stay Away from Drugs: Recognize the Risks, Understand the Law,” is highly relevant to the challenges faced by today’s younger generation.

“We want to encourage students to understand that drugs are not just a health issue, but also a social and legal one. Do not let curiosity, peer pressure, or temporary social circles lead to decisions that have long-term impacts on life,” Zahratul said.

According to her, students were also urged to be brave enough to say “no” to drugs.

“Saying no to drugs does not mean you are not cool,” she stated.

She added that taking a stand to reject drugs is an act of bravery to protect oneself, family, and the future.

She expressed hope that the activity would not only raise awareness among students about the dangers of drugs, but also deepen their understanding of their rights, obligations, and the legal consequences of every action.

“Be a young generation that makes smart choices, dares to say no, and is able to set a positive example for their surrounding environment,” said Zahratul Idami.

During the event at SMKN 1 Mesjid Raya, a member of the FH USK PKM Team, Rosmawati, helped facilitate a short film screening and discussion. Rosmawati even urged the students never to experiment with drugs.

“Once you fall into it, your future is at stake. Recognize the risks, understand the law, and dare to say no,” Rosmawati stressed.

She hoped students would actively maintain good social circles, choose positive environments, and stay focused on their future.

“Let us work together to build a young generation in Aceh that is healthy, characterized, law-aware, and high-achieving. Do not let drugs steal your future. Because a great future begins with making the right choices today,” Rosmawati said.

Furthermore, Rifka Safira presented during the event on the definition, types, impacts, and dangers of narcotics. According to her, drugs are not only prohibited by law and religion, but also carry severe negative effects on health and social life.

“Students must understand that every action carries consequences. Therefore, stay away from drugs and never try them,” Rifka emphasized.

Another speaker, Intan Munirah, outlined narcotics regulations along with criminal provisions and consequences for those involved in drug abuse. To that end, Intan encouraged students to focus on studying, innovating, and achieving their goals instead of trying something that could ruin their future.

“Say no to drugs and say yes to achievements,” Intan Munirah urged.

“Daring to say no to drugs is the true form of courage. Do not let peer pressure, curiosity, or temporary social circles determine your future,” Intan advised.

On another note, Prof. Syarifuddin Hasyim shared his experiences regarding the handling of narcotics cases in court. He emphasized that students are not only the next generation, but also the ones who will shape the nation’s future.

“Therefore, do not let drugs steal your future. Protect yourself, choose your peers wisely, dare to say no, and keep striving for accomplishments,” Syarifuddin emphasized.

Prof. Iskandar A. Gani shared a similar message. He urged students, as the next generation, not to let drugs ruin their prospects.

“Protect yourself, mind your social circles, dare to say no, and continue to pursue achievements,” Iskandar said.

He invited students to become a generation that makes smart decisions in choosing their friends.
