Aceh – Indonesia, Bireuen (Waspada Aceh) – The newly constructed Teupin Mane steel frame bridge.
According to PT PP Project Manager for the Teupin Mane Bridge, Reza Azlan, on Thursday (1/10/2026), construction of the bridge has been completed, and the lane will be opened on Friday afternoon, following the Friday prayer service.
During the functional opening, only two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles will be allowed to cross. Heavy-duty trucks are not yet permitted to pass as the bridge has not undergone load testing.
The operational opening aligns with the construction targets, which originally scheduled full functional operation by October 2026 and complete finalization by December 2026.
The Teupin Mane steel frame bridge construction project, located on the Bireuen-Takengon national route at kilometer 11 across the Peusangan River spanning Beunyot and Teupin Mane villages, is part of the Aceh rehabilitation and reconstruction initiative following the Sumatra hydrometeorological disaster.
The project falls under the Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the Aceh National Road Construction Center (BPJN). Work on the permanent bridge began in late January 2026, situated directly to the left (from the direction of Bireuen) of the old bridge, which is currently connected with a bailey bridge.
Head of the Aceh Regional Post for the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (Satgas PRR), Dr. Safrizal ZA, welcomed the progress as it reached the functional opening stage.
“Hopefully, there will be no obstacles, and following this functional opening, the subsequent phases can be carried out promptly,” Safrizal said.
He expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of PU, BPJN Aceh, executing state-owned enterprises, local contractors, the Bireuen Regency Government, local residents, and all parties involved both directly and indirectly. (*)
