Aceh – Indonesia, Floods have inundated several areas in Aceh Singkil Regency over the past three days. In addition to submerging roads and residential areas, the flooding completely destroyed two bridges in Kuta Simboling Village, Singkil District.
Head of the Aceh Singkil Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Alhusni, stated that flooding hit five villages across three districts: Rantau Gedang, Pea Bumbung, and Kuta Simboling in Singkil District; Samardua Village in Kuta Baharu District; and Suka Jaya Village in Kuala Baru District.
He explained that the floods were triggered by heavy rainfall over recent days, causing river water levels to rise and overflow onto roads and residential settlements.
In Kuta Simboling Village, two bridges were reported completely collapsed. To prevent disruption to daily activities, the BPBD deployed a Quick Response Team (TRC) and two polyethylene boats to provide temporary crossing access for residents.
Meanwhile, several roads remain submerged. The connecting road from Rantau Gedang Village to the center of Singkil District is still flooded under about 30 centimeters of water.
“A similar situation is occurring on the disaster mitigation road in Pea Bumbung Village. Water levels of around 30 centimeters still cover the road surface, disrupting motorists,” he said.
In Samardua Village, Kuta Baharu District, large vehicles can now pass through the road. However, automatic motorcycles are still unable to cross safely as the floodwaters have not fully receded.
Meanwhile, in Suka Jaya Village, Kuala Baru District, water levels are reported to be continuously rising. At least eight homes are now surrounded by floodwaters reaching a depth of about 30 centimeters.
Despite this, the water has reportedly not entered the residents’ homes.
The Aceh Singkil BPBD is currently monitoring and coordinating responses at several flood-affected points. As of the latest report, there have been no reported casualties or evacuations.
Officers also continue to monitor water level developments and transportation access for residents in affected areas.***
