Aceh – Indonesia, The Secretary General of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), Yunus Nusi, affirmed that the central PSSI will not recognize the results of the Aceh PSSI Congress if it goes ahead despite official requests to postpone all stages and execution of the event.

Yunus stated that PSSI sent a letter to Aceh PSSI on September 24, 2026, requesting the postponement. The letter, he said, was signed directly by him.

“PSSI has informed Aceh PSSI to postpone all stage processes and the PSSI Congress in Aceh,” Yunus told Bithe.co on Thursday (10/1/2026).

He explained that the decision was made after PSSI received several letters from voting members, including the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI). According to him, PSSI will further review these letters.

Yunus also revealed that Aceh PSSI had sent a reply refusing the request to temporarily halt the congress. However, he emphasized that the central PSSI insists on the implementation of the letter dated September 24.

“Aceh PSSI sent a response rejecting it, which is their right. However, PSSI disregards that reply, and we ask Aceh PSSI to comply with the September 24 letter from PSSI,” he stated.

Regarding the debate over Article 39 paragraph (1) of the PSSI Statutes—specifically the provision that the congress agenda is considered approved if no response is received within 14 working days—Yunus stressed that PSSI strictly adheres to the official letter sent to Aceh PSSI.

According to him, provisions regarding agenda approval must be viewed in conjunction with other rules governing congress implementation.

“What matters most to us is not the article, but the official PSSI letter sent to Aceh PSSI,” Yunus said.

He then reiterated the central PSSI’s stance if the congress proceeds without heeding the request for postponement.

“One thing is certain: whatever congress they conduct, PSSI will not recognize it,” he affirmed.

Yunus also explained that the presence of central PSSI representatives at the congress must be based on a mandate letter from the General Chair of PSSI. Without that mandate, the presence of any representative cannot be deemed an official representation of the federation.

“As long as there is no mandate from the General Chair to attend, it is not official. Naturally, all provincial PSSI branches across Indonesia should comply with what has been communicated,” Yunus stated, adding that PSSI will continue to communicate to determine the next steps. One option under consideration is the appointment of an Acting Head (PLT) by the General Chair of PSSI.

“We will also maintain communication to decide whether to proceed or if an Acting Head will be assigned by the General Chair. I will seek directions from the General Chair regarding the end of the Aceh PSSI management term,” he said.

Yunus expressed hope that Aceh PSSI would comply with the postponement request. He also warned of the impact on voters if the congress proceeds but its outcomes are unrecognized by the central PSSI.

“It is best that the congress is not held for the sake of the voters, who would end up unrecognized. That would not be good for football in Aceh. Just be patient,” Yunus concluded.
