Aceh – Indonesia, The Aceh Provincial Government has prepared a budget of over IDR 5.1 billion to restore community salt businesses affected by hydrometeorological disasters. This recovery program targets 254 beneficiaries spread across Bireuen, North Aceh, and East Aceh Regencies.

The budget originates from the additional Transfer to Regions (TKD) for the 2026 Fiscal Year. The funds will be utilized to rebuild various production facilities belonging to affected salt farmers.

The program is expected to strengthen local business resilience while mitigating the risk of financial losses caused by potential recurring extreme weather events.

Head of the Aceh Provincial Marine and Fisheries Department, Safrizal, stated that the program is part of the regional government’s measures to rehabilitate and empower local enterprises.

β€œThe total budget allocated for the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and development program for community salt businesses in Aceh exceeds IDR 5.1 billion,” Safrizal said in a written statement on Sunday (10/4/2026).

The funding is anticipated to reinvigorate community salt production activities to ensure optimal operations.

Assistance provided includes the construction of production kitchens, boiling stoves, and greenhouse-concept salt tunnels. Among the three recipient regions, Bireuen received the largest allocation of over IDR 2.96 billion for 176 beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, East Aceh received an allocation of IDR 1.29 billion, and North Aceh received IDR 839.64 million.

The budget utilization goes beyond replacing production facilities damaged by bad weather. Building infrastructure such as greenhouses also aims to facilitate a more consistent salt-drying process.

With the support of these production tools and facilities, the long-term sustainability of salt farming businesses is expected to be maintained.

β€œWe hope this salt business reconstruction, rehabilitation, and development program will sustain both the quantity and quality of production in a sustainable manner while boosting salt farmers’ income,” Safrizal added.
