GIANYAR — A video showing the expulsion of three Israeli soldiers from a fitness center in Ubud, Gianyar Regency, Bali, has drawn widespread attention on social media after the foreign nationals reportedly acted disrespectfully and rudely toward local staff.
The tense incident began when three Israeli nationals visited the gym in the popular Balinese tourist destination to work out. However, their presence sparked a commotion after employees at the fitness facility complained about mistreatment they directly experienced from the visitors.
Rude Behavior Sparks Commotion
According to information gathered from footage of the incident, the altercation began when the three men interacted with a gym staff member. Instead of following the rules and respecting local workers, they engaged in disrespectful behavior deemed degrading.
Feeling intimidated and mistreated, one of the staff members promptly reported the abusive treatment directly to the gym owner. Learning that his employee had been subjected to arbitrary mistreatment by foreign guests, the owner did not stand idly by and stepped in immediately to resolve the issue in the workout area.
Firm Stance by Facility Management
Confronted with the misconduct, the gym owner approached the three foreign men directly and demanded they stop working out and leave the fitness center immediately. The decisive action was taken to ensure the comfort and safety of other staff and visitors exercising at the premises.
In the circulating video footage, the fitness center owner can be heard firmly telling them to leave without tolerating the uncivilized behavior they exhibited in the public space.
“You shouldn’t be here,” the gym owner asserted while demanding the three Israeli nationals leave his establishment.
Faced with the management’s uncompromising stance, the three soldiers were left with no choice but to leave the fitness center in Ubud as other visitors looked on.
Fallout from Negative Review Campaign
Although the situation on-site concluded with the removal of the three foreign nationals, the fallout from the expulsion spilled over into the digital realm. Shortly after the incident occurred and video footage went viral online, the fitness center’s profile on online review platforms suddenly became the target of a negative review campaign.
Gym management found their business bombarded with one-star reviews from multiple accounts. Those submitting the negative reviews alleged that the Ubud gym had acted racistically by refusing service and expelling the three foreign nationals.
Despite receiving poor online ratings, the management’s decisive action to defend the dignity of local staff against mistreatment by foreign tourists drew widespread appreciation and moral support from Indonesian netizens, who maintained that all visitors must uphold ethics and standards of decency in tourist destinations.
